"Dyslexia Outside-the-Box helps you understand the mind of a child with dyslexia and explains what’s going on in their outside-the-box brain in a way that can help you make them feel much better about themselves.

Dyslexia Outside-the-Box offers a balanced perspective showing how a dyslexic child’s challenges are directly connected to the flip-side strengths of their brain’s unique wiring:

Using evidenced-based information about dyslexia, the book is organized in an easy-to-understand format for anyone who knows and wants to support someone with dyslexia

It breaks down the many aspects of dyslexia and offers solutions that have the “whole person” in mind, showing how these children whose brains are delightfully wired differently can thrive, not just survive

The insights into reading, spelling, and writing challenges are accompanied by strategies for helping outside-the-box learners succeed in school

It’s filled with fun and easy suggestions, tips, and teaching ideas, and, best of all, encouragement for parents and teachers of dyslexic students

It’s a valuable resource for parents to use when conveying their children’s struggles and strengths to educators and professionals who work with them"

"In this guide, parents will find the help they need to navigate the tricky territory of the public school system with proven strategies, easy-to-follow directions, and maps. While other books take an academic approach and dwell on dyslexia as a disability, DyslexiaLand provides a practical approach, focusing instead on the many talents and abilities of children with dyslexia and how parents can help them thrive in school, at home, and in the community. This guide helps parents save significant time and money by pinpointing the support a dyslexic child needs early on and avoiding larger costs, financial and emotional, that a family may incur if a child's school struggles are not promptly identified and addressed."

Games

Everybody enjoys playing games that utilize their strengths.  A common strength of dyslexic students is their visual-spatial awareness because dyslexic brains think in 3D rather than 2D. Because of this, I have compiled a list of multiple games (that I will continually be adding to) that I have found dyslexic students to love, mainly because of the visual-spatial aspect. I would encourage you to take a look at them and maybe order something for the family to try!
