About

My name is Emily Farran! I am Orton-Gillingham trained and a Certified Barton Tutor.

Growing up overseas and living in countries without educational resources, I watched kids struggle in school and get left behind in the educational system, all because of a lack of resources.

In our family, I watched my little sister with profound dyslexia go from painful struggles with reading to success once the Barton system was introduced. I then realized that with the right tools, success could be achieved.

This led me to pursue a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am currently a junior at Cedarville University.

Over the summer I worked as a tutor for a dyslexia camp at Potters Ranch in Union, Kentucky. It is one of five in the nation and I was able to work with students who are doubly profoundly dyslexic, dysgraphic, and dyscalculic.

It has been incredible to watch the students I have tutored go from being unable to read to reading books to their little siblings, which is why I pursued my certification for the Barton system. I am excited to be a part of more stories like these and see students succeed!

Shortly I will be pursuing training in a cognitive development therapy program, which I hope will be very beneficial for my students.
