One thing that I believe every person must understand is just how differently each child learns. I am incredibly passionate about finding what works for a specific child and "running with it" if you will. Throughout my journey with students, I have devised a few manipulatives that worked for them and (after a few parents requested them) decided to put them out for anyone else who might need them!
Large Sound-Picture Letter Tiles
I discovered that some of my students need a picture "hint" as they learn their letters and the sounds that go with them. This set includes 3x3 inch wooden tiles with two sides: one having a picture hint and the other having just the plain letter. The font used is specific to dyslexics to help them distinguish the letters better. This set also comes with a storage bag.
Games you can do with the blocks:
pulling tiles from a bag and saying their name/sound (you can time them and have them race their previous time)
letter/sound search (find the "..." ) around the room
31 letter/sound pick-up (digraphs included)

Large Wooden Tiles
When working with students on how to break apart words and hear all the sounds in them, I noticed that some of them (especially the boys) really enjoyed being able to be up and moving. I devised a way to be able to have them work on their phonemic awareness while simultaneously working on connecting both hemispheres of their brains, something that must be developed with dyslexics. How I did this is by making giant (10x10 inch) wooden tiles that the students can slide around on the floor, jump on, or even bounce a ball on!
These tiles come in 5 colors: yellow, blue, red, green, and orange along with a storage bag.
