Do I need a diagnosis to begin the Barton system?
No, you do not need a dyslexia diagnosis to begin using the Barton system. However, if your student has 3 or more of the signs listed on the DYSLEXIA page, a diagnosis may need to be explored.
When will my child do the Barton screening?
After you and I have had our initial meeting, we will set up a time for me to administer the free but required Barton student screening to make sure that your student is ready for the curriculum.
What if my student doesn't pass the screening?
If your student does not pass the screening, there are programs that help the student develop the skills they need before beginning any Orton-Gillingham system. These following programs are suggested by the Barton Reading & Spelling system because they teach the processing skills that your student needs to be successful.
